Feed In Tariffs

Feed In Tariffs (FITs) are also called clean energy cash back.

FITs are the Government’s support measures which ensure that you benefit financially from the solar energy you produce and also from the extra electricity you generate, which can be sold back to the Grid for a guaranteed amount.

This amount has been guaranteed by the Government for up to 25 years.

Who pays my tariffs to me?

Although the Feed in Tariffs are established in law, rather than coming from the government, the tariffs are actually paid by to you by your energy supplier.

Where does the money come from?

The suppliers e.g. eon, British Gas, n-power etc  pass on the cost of the Feed-In Tariffs scheme to ALL their existing electricity customers.

… so the bottom line is that people who don’t install renewable energy systems pay for those who do!

But Hurry! It Wont Last Forever!

The Feed in Tariff is at the moment set at 43.3p per unit for domestic solar pv installs but this will drop year upon year.

So the sooner you sign up for the Feed In Tariff the better

Because if you sign up before March 2012 you will be Guaranteed the Maximum rate for 25 years.
